Formed in 1973 by legendary trumpeter Donald Byrd, The Blackbyrds helped define the sound of a generation, blending genres with a bold, innovative spirit that continues to influence artists today. Their catalog features timeless hits like “Walking in Rhythm,” “Rock Creek Park,” and “Happy Music,” along with fan favorites such as “Do It Fluid” and “Unfinished Business,” many of which have been widely sampled across hip-hop and modern music.
Now led by original drummer and vocalist Keith Killgo, the band continues to tour and perform worldwide, delivering the same infectious rhythms and dynamic musicianship that made them icons of 1970s Black popular music.
